18. What’s the history?
1. Is yogafever only about hot yoga?
yogafever has been born out of a love of Yoga in general. There is no one path, no one right way to practice; no one form of yoga that is better than another.
Due to a love of practicing whilst being warm; the Studio is fully fitted out for hot yoga, enabling this practice safely and in a controlled environment. However hot yoga is not the only practice offered.
2. What classes do you offer?
yogafever offers Hot Yoga – (General, deeper and refresher classes); Dynamic Flow Yoga – (Ashtanga and Creative Dynamic Flow); Yin and Meditation Classes. A full description of these and our schedule can be found here
3. What is hot yoga?
Hot Yoga is yoga taught in a heated studio (ours is heated to approx 35°C). The heat allows the body to open up more quickly enabling us to work more deeply in stretches with less chance of injury. When taught correctly, hot yoga can help with recovery from injury. The heat also makes the practise more intense raising cardio levels and requiring the student to develop strong mind focus to remain present in the postures and to keep awareness during practise. Full information on each class type can be found here
Each yoga class is different to the next, so please do not except the same ‘routine’ every time- enjoy the diversity!
4. What is best to wear to class?
For the hot classes – we recommend wearing light gym-wear as you will get sweaty, e.g. leggings/shorts and vest/crop-tops for the ladies, shorts and t-shirt for men. Try to avoid baggy clothing for hot classes as these will hold sweat and become uncomfortable. For non-hot classes, wear loose comfortable clothing that allows movement. Shoes are removed for all classes.
5. What can I eat/drink before class?
Try not to eat for 2hrs prior to class. You will get the most from the classes if you are fully hydrated beforehand (especially the hot classes). Try to drink steadily throughout the day and up until class. Please bring with you a large bottle of water, or you can refill / buy water bottles from us to refill at the studio.
6. What will I need to bring?
Try to remember:
- Your water
- Your yoga clothes
- Your mat (if you have one )- you can leave it at the studio if you wish.
- Your towel (essential for HOT YOGA classes we charge £1 to hire)
- Money for drop in & / your email address for your membership!
- Your smile
7. Where is your studio?
The studio is located in the heart of Cardiff City Centre on Windsor Place. Full address:39 Windsor Place, Cardiff, CF10 3BW. The Studio is (rather appropriately considering the yogic principle of balance) above the Wetherspoon's Central Bar. The door is to the right hand side marked by a large overhead sign. Find us
8. Can I come if I can’t touch my toes?
Yes of course!! All the more so! When we practise Yoga of the body we are looking for the perfect balance between strength and flexibility. We are also hoping to address imbalances in the body caused through sport, lifestyle or injury. If you feel that you could gain in any of these areas then come and try a class. Yoga is not about being super-bendy – it is about finding balance in all and being ok with exactly where we are at any point in life.
9. What do i do if i have an injury / illness?
It may be that yoga can help. However, it is best to discuss this with us before attending class. Where possible, please contact us via the contact page with information or mention it to your teacher before class. This includes any injury or illness including diabetes, low or high blood pressure, asthma and any cardiac problems. We have lots of great contacts in South Wales and beyond – so even if we feel we cannot help we should be able to point you in the direction of someone who can! If in any doubt, consult with your doctor for guidance.
10. I am new to Yoga – can i come to class?
Yes of course! Any of the General Hot Yoga classes, Dynamic Flow and Yin classes are suitable for all. If you are really worried about attending then we offer refresher drop in classes and 6 week courses.
11. What type of class should I try?
Try them all! Have a look and a read of all the class descriptions and see what draws you most. All classes are different and can only really be understood through experience. Give them a go and try all our teachers out! If you have medical or fitness worries then please do get in touch.
12. I haven’t exercised in a while – can I come to class
Absolutely! We promote Self Responsibility and ask you listen to your body and take the class at your own pace.
